IVECO all set for The UK Concrete Show with a truck the city likes

IVECO is showcasing the strength of its product range for the building and construction industry at The UK Concrete Show, displaying an 18-tonne Eurocargo (180E28S) equipped with a 7m³ Hymix concrete mixer body.

Purpose-built for urban operations and known as ‘the truck the city likes’, the Eurocargo on show at the NEC has a 3,690mm wheelbase and a tight turning circle, making it nimble in both tight city streets and busy construction sites.

Built to handle the demands of city centre traffic, the Eurocargo, which was named International Truck of the Year 2016, features an advanced emergency braking system which measures the distance from a preceding vehicle and triggers a double alarm, before automatically braking in the event of an emergency.

Also aiding the truck’s suitability for urban missions is the Eurocargo’s linear dashboard and the compact dimensions of its engine tunnel, which allows the driver to exit from both sides of the cab – meaning they can always step onto the pavement, no matter which side of the road they park.

The Eurocargo stands apart from its competition for being the only Euro VI medium-range vehicle to meet emissions standards with a single anti-emission system: IVECO’s HI-SCR technology, which utilises passive regeneration of the diesel particulate filter (DPF).

This means vehicle productivity for customers is increased, as the patented HI-SCR system requires neither driver involvement, nor downtime from active regeneration. Unlike some competitor models, no additional fuel is utilised to burn particulates and no energy is lost to cool down exhaust gases.

Furthermore, IVECO’s HI-SCR technology provides a significant advantage by eliminating any requirements for drivers to periodically operate the vehicle at motorway speeds and clean out the DPF, which can negatively impact on fuel costs, vehicle availability and drivers’ hours.

An extensive model line-up between 7.5 and 18 tonnes means the Eurocargo maintains its unrivalled versatility in the building and construction industry, with a choice of day cab, crew cab, sleeper cab and high-roof sleeper cab models.

There are seven power ratings from 160hp to 320hp, 11 transmission options – including four automated, five manual and two automatic – 15 wheelbases from 2,790mm to 6,570mm, a choice of 4x2 or 4x4, plus an extensive range of final axle ratios.
