UK's Most Fuel Efficient Truck Snapped Up By Nottinghamshire Business

One of the UK’s most fuel efficient vehicles, the IVECO Stralis, has had its first model delivered in the UK by commercial motor dealership Sherwood Truck and Van. 

Sutton-in-Ashfield based business LWT Services - a 24 hour transport courier business - purchased the first vehicle of its kind late last year. 

The state of the art truck, which includes a host of features designed to reduce rolling resistance and improve fuel economy by up to 11%, is specifically designed to require as little regeneration or maintenance as possible. 

Cameron Best, owner and transport manager at LWT Services, who purchased the truck, said: “Sherwood Truck and Van offered me great value for money on the Stralis with a three-year lease and full repair and maintenance package. All I have to do is drive it and put less fuel in. 

“Sherwood Truck and Van is in close proximity to our operating centre and the overnight servicing ensures the vehicle is always available in the day to serve my customers. 

“Day-to-day driving of the Stralis is a real pleasure. Features such as the auto gearbox, stereo CD, built in Sat-Nav - which can be programmed with the vehicle height, length and width - all ensure smooth, no fuss journeys. There’s plenty of room in the bunk, which is ideal for long nights out on the road.” 

Perhaps the Stralis’ most unique feature is its emphasis on enhancing efficiency, fuel economy and sustainability. As a result of this, the Stralis aims to save operators thousands of pounds in fuel costs. 

Cameron added: “With fuel prices rising every month, economy is at the very top of our priority list as a business. So far, the truck has produced a year-to-date average of 9.7mpg, which is a figure that I am very, very pleased with. Even when I’m pulling fully freighted, double-deck curtainsiders it achieves a very impressive 9mpg and when I’m running with lighter loads, 12.2mpg is not uncommon.
