Flexible IVECO S-Way trucks join the growing North Kent Distribution fleet

North Kent Distribution knows all about efficient fleet management and what a difference having the right truck for the mission makes. 

Supplied by Acorn Truck Sales, four new IVECO S-Way 530hp 6x2 (AS440S53TX/P) and three flagship IVECO S-Way 570hp 6x2 (AS440S57TX/FP) have recently joined its fleet of 50 vehicles.

With different power ratings at its disposal, North Kent Distribution can maximise efficiency and mission match each truck. 

The highly efficient Cursor 13 engine powers both variants, with the IVECO S-Way 530hp supplying an excellent blend of capabilities and efficiency, while the most powerful IVECO S-Way 570hp delivers ease of performance when running at 44 tonnes with mixed freight. In fact, the range-topping 570hp features full air suspension, not only providing supple ride comfort but also a weight saving that helps boost overall payload capacity.

These trucks are expected to cover some 130,000km each year, supporting local pallet deliveries and heavier nationwide overnight missions.

Gary Knight, founder of North Kent Distribution has built the business from one man and his van to a flourishing fleet over the past 11 years. He said “Having both variants of the IVECO S-Way on our fleet grants us excellent flexibility, making the most of efficiency gains by assigning the right vehicle for the job based on load. We’ve seen great fuel returns on both types of truck.”

IVECO Dealer Acorn Truck Sales provided North Kent Distribution with a demonstrator that generated such positive driver feedback it fuelled the order for the latest additions to the Kent-based business. Particular praise was given to the overall comfort of the IVECO S-Way’s cab with drivers taking advantage of the supportive bunks and rotating passenger seats on breaks. These vehicles are also equipped with fridges and freezers for those behind the wheel to store fresh food items. Numerous charging points keep driver’s smart devices topped up, with many making use of the IVECO S-Way’s Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. 

Another high-tech asset found in the cab of these IVECO S-Way is IVECO Driver Pal, the onboard vocal travel companion built on Amazon Web Services and Alexa features that make the driver’s life even easier, more productive and safer. 

A highly manoeuvrable truck was also a priority for North Kent Distribution when delivering in densely populated areas such as London. Good visibility and a tight turning radius make these IVECOs a real asset to the fleet. All of the IVECO S-Way are equipped with equipment to comply with the latest Direct Vision Standards for the capital, equipped with a series of AI-powered cameras from Vision Track that can actively identify pedestrians and alert the driver. 

IVECO’s Repair and Maintenance contract helps supply peace of mind, providing key operational services at predictable fixed prices. Plans can be tailored to best suit the operator and their missions. These North Kent Distribution trucks are on 3XL R&M packages over five years, covering everything from wear items to drive line.

All seven of these IVECO S-Way are fitted with a Connectivity Box and Smart Pack. Advanced features such as Smart Reporting help boost efficiencies, while Vehicle Monitoring for updates on truck performance and Safe Driver Report grants operators even better vehicle visibility.
