Art logistics provider says IVECO’s Daily Blue Power is a masterpiece
Tuesday 8th May 2018
Art logistics provider Mtec has taken ownership of the UK's first IVECO Daily Blue Power van – the 'International Van of the Year 2018'. The Daily Hi-Matic RDE 2020 Ready 3.5-tonner will be used as an express delivery vehicle around Britain and Europe.
Approximately half of the Hertfordshire-based firm's 25-strong fleet are IVECOs – split between Daily vans and Stralis Hi-Way tractor units. Mtec was an early adopter of Euro 6 in 2013 and now, all but one of its vehicles adhere to the strict emissions standard.
And with a large percentage of fleet journeys starting or ending in Ultra-Low Emission Zones (ULEZs), Managing Director David Williams said it was vital to meet current regulations as well as future-proof against further changes in legislation.
The Daily RDE 2020 Ready is the most advanced diesel LCV on the market and the first to be tested and verified for Real Driving Emissions by the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) – anticipating the challenging 2020 environmental targets.
'We looked at a number of vehicles from other manufacturers, but we were most impressed with the IVECO. Its build quality is equal if not better than its competitors. And when it came to reducing our impact on the environment – no diesel van came close to the Daily Blue Power,' Williams says.
'As a responsible company the environmental impact of what we do is as important as anything else. We all have a duty to look after the planet and this van helps us do that through emissions reductions and fuel efficiency.'
Williams said his choice of vehicle depended on what suited his business needs as well as the comfort of the drivers, which is why he chose the class-leading Hi-Matic 8-speed automatic gearbox in their IVECO Daily RDE 2020 Ready, which is designed to provide absolute driving pleasure.
'It's built like a truck even though it's a panel van and our drivers have consistently told us that IVECO Dailys are top quality. We took the advice of Bal Singh at Guest Truck & Van to get a Daily Blue Power and we couldn't be happier – it's an absolute pleasure to drive,' Williams adds.
The vehicle, which has been acquired on a full repair and maintenance contract, will be kept in service until 2024. It is expected to travel up to 100,000 km every year and has been fitted with rear air suspension to protect valuable cargo in the loadspace. It has also been kitted out with IVECO's International Pack which includes automatic air conditioning, electric windows, a suspended driver's seat with lumbar support and armrest and adaptive headlights.
The 17.5m3 cargo area has also been fitted with a climate control system to protect paintings and other artwork during long journeys.
The other vehicles in Daily Blue Power family include the Daily Hi-Matic Natural Power and the Daily Electric. They can access all city centres round the clock, freeing transport operators from the constraints of environmental regulations.
