John Bywater Transport Nail Down Ecostralis for Efficiency!

It seems the Ecostralis has done it again, coming out on top during a recent fuel efficiency chart pulled together by Kent-based haulage company John Bywater Transport, to see if money could be saved with the latest in Iveco’s range of tractor units, amongst other competing truck manufacturers.

The Ecostralis fended off tough competition from DAF, MAN, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo to deliver an astonishing 9.45mpg over a distance of 71,000 miles during the tests that began in March 2012. With the remainder of the fleet averaging a mere 8.25mpg, John Bywater, managing director of the company commented “in the case of the Iveco vehicles, they are a league apart”.

Of course, we’re all looking to save money where possible, and after an influx of new vehicles, a marked expansion of the company beginning all the way back in 2011, the Pall-Ex member decided to put their vehicles through their paces and chart the top scorers in the fuel efficiency department across a number of months.

John went on to say the Iveco frontrunners have consistently been a cut above the rest since entering service, “The Ecostralis trucks have proven to be very economical at the pumps and are returning the best fuel consumption figures we’ve seen,” he said.

But how do they do it? Well it’s a good job you asked as this unabashed fuel competency comes in part from a re-mapped FPT Industrial Cursor 10 engine; a revolutionary design that ensures performance is not sacrificed in the face of the extent of its efficiency. But that’s not all, an ‘Ecoswitch’ device utilizing vehicle weight information derived from the EBS systems, limits engine torque, allowing for full functional, fast acceleration without the excess consumption that ordinarily comes as part of the package.

Indeed, the vehicle is undoubtedly one of the most economic choices on the market, with every inch of it fine-tuned and tested to ensure 100% competency for fuel efficiency, right down to the ECOfleet transmission mode, allowing for automatic adjustments that sit with the vehicle’s loading.

For more information on why John Bywater Transport have purchased an extra Ecostralis to join their ever increasing fleet, and how you could be driving a truck built for economic efficiency, you’re in the right place at Iveco!
